Anyone still with me???
Have you ever noticed that one negative thought leads to the next negative thought and before you know it, you’re having a big ugly shitstorm of a day?
Or….maybe your alarm clock didn’t go off (or you snoozed yourself right through it) and you got up late, had to skip your shower, couldn’t find your other shoe that went with the outfit you had just put on in record time so you had to switch outfits…..then you look outside and dammit! It snowed! So now you’ll be even later because you have to get that crap off your windshield and…and…and…..see where I’m going here? It seems like the rest of your day is just messy.
Oh, but wait! It can get bigger than that!
This sort of thinking tends to go to another level when we don’t get a grip on it. Before you know it you’re having negative thought days – one right after another – and there you are…..NOTHING IS GOING RIGHT IN MY LIFE!
Stop. Right. There.
Have you ever read that quote??? “It’s a bad day. Not a bad life.” Or something like that.
And here’s the thing. YOU have the power to change it ON THE SPOT!
I’m not saying you can magically twitch your nose and make that grumpy boss a happier person. Or Linda in the other department less of a pain in the ass know-it-all. Or any of the other little things that we face on a daily basis that we could make us feel all Negative Nancy……unless we choose to look at it in a little bit different of a light.
So……instead of sitting there thinking about all the things in your life that you want to change in 2020 (because let’s face it, the beginning of a New Year brings that out in alllllll of us!), I want you to tell me this……
Here’s the thing. No matter the list you can give me of all the things you think are going wrong, I’d much rather you really focus on – and build from – all the things that are going right! And I KNOW there’s things in your life that are going right.
